And the winner is.........

I know the suspense is killing me! After Daisy overlooked the bowl of destiny 2 (Sorry Edgar, I just had to use it!), then Jacob tossed the bowl around and drew....drum roll please......

Since I had 2 Michele's in the batch, I added coffee girl to Michele's tag, since I know she's a coffee lover! hahaha
So Michele, send me your address and your Halloween package will soon be scooting to your house!
As to me, I'm still sick and under the weather. This cold is doing its darnedness to make me take a sick day. I of course am trying not too. It's hard on the kitchen crew not to mention my manager who hates to run the register. So I've been using my Afrin plus over the counter meds to keep me going.
I have to mention my sweet little niece Caroline who is celebrating her birthday today! Happy Birthday Sweetie!
I got my copy of BlackBird Designs 'Tis Halloween'! Heaven, I'm in heaven! Another awesome pattern book from the girls.
I've got my exchanges ready to mail, I'm cutting it close, sorry to my exchange partners, but I made by the deadline. So start watching your mailboxes in about a week!
Well, that's it for me tonight, I'm hitting the hay early so I can wake up ready for work tomorrow.

A sneak peek at the giveaway goodies!

Just a peek of Halloween Goodies!

Just a taste of what's in the giveaway. Butters is guarding over the bounty! hahaha

Tonight my post will be short, I've got to sew a cape for our drum major. Plus get my stuff ready to go on my exchanges, I'm really cutting it close, but with everything this month I got behind. I hate that! I'm really excited for the winner of the giveaway because I bought two of a few things, cause I had to have them myself! Y'all are gonna love it!
Look at my Christmas Ornament that Faye made for me! Wahoo, I love it! Thank you friend, I can't wait for Christmas to add it to my tree.
I'm glad for chances to make my friends happy!

Don't forget to enter the giveaway......

Tomorrow everyone will get a sneak peek at one of the goodies in the giveaway! So tell your friends, and cross your fingers!
I'm feeling better today; thank you. I'm taking over the counter meds and it seems to be doing the trick. Afrin nose spray is great! I could breathe today!
I went fabric shopping for a cape for our drum major tonight, ahhhh, the beginnings of fall decorations. I'm counting down the days till I can decorate for Halloween. This year Halloween is on a Saturday. I'll be home to pass out candy, yippee! Last year was a football game and I was not home to give out candy. I look forward to giving out candy, decorating and everything! I'm trying to talk my hubby into a Halloween party for the band kids, we will see, if Johnny gets back to work soon we should be able to swing the extra cost for a party.
This will be a quick post, gotta get ready to hit the sack! I'm tired, plus my Afrin is wearing off, need to re-medicate. hahahah

Wahoo! Enter giveaway at this post!

Just look at the bounty I received. A big thanks to Dee for all the wonderful Halloween goodies that I won. The pumpkin book is so cute! I'm gonna put that out on the table during the October month. And since winning that, it has put me in the mood to host a giveaway too! So next weekend, which will be August 28, I will draw a name out of my own witchy cauldron, so enter now on this post to win a surprise which will make your stitchy hearts happy!
Would you believe I already have a cold?!? I am gonna count this year just how many colds I get. It's only been 2 weeks of school. I do get a flu shot every year now since I work at a school. But that doesn't help with all the little colds that I get. I was fine yesterday, but I woke up Saturday morning congested with a runny nose. How can a person be congested and have a runny nose? You can't breathe, but your nose just drips. Ugg!
Baby Alora is home now with your Momma Aaryn! Praise God for small miracles! Now I just need pictures! Oh Cathy, pester your daughter to hurry up and send us pictures! I'm so happy that Aaryn can be a Momma now. And another thing, Kyle, we want y'all to move down home in the south. I want to hold that precious baby!

John is gonna smoke some ribs today, sounds super yummy and maybe I'll be able to taste the goodness of tasty pig! hahahaha

Tomorrow starts my new job at church. I will be a greeter, which I really don't think they know what they are getting themselves into! John's Uncle Russell and Aunt Deborah are glad that I have welcomed God back in my life. Russell is a pastor and as much I as like their church, it's so far away and I know I would set myself up for failure because I hate driving a long way for church, I can get to 12Stone in 10 minutes, which is perfect for me. I told you God that I was gonna try to comply. I'm really excited about it, plus I hope to make some new friends.
Well, I'll leave you with a few pictures for the weekend. Butters is giving kisses to Daisy, look how big he has gotten. I so love my kitties!
Have a great weekend!
I'm glad for new friends I'll meet at church.

Monday dawns a new day...........

Just to show you that people still care. Y'all know about the flower turmoil, well, the funeral attendant at Tommy Wages is the best. She knew about the mix up and to make me feel better this is what she did. I didn't realize it until we were walking in following the casket. She had my spray right up front and she had it worked out where my flowers were at the head of Uncle Charles's casket. I was so totally blown away that she took my flowers and placed them right by Uncle Charles. That gesture was so special to me and after the funeral, I had to let her know how much that meant to me. She was so humble and said I just wanted things to be special for you. Now friends, that's someone who I want to be like! We always use Tommy Wages, they are the best!

Here's a picture of Jacob and I at the end of band camp. Everyone had a great time and I love this picture of us together.

Has anyone received their Just CrossStitch Halloween issue? I haven't, and I'm chomping at the bit to get it. I also can't wait till the new Blackbird Design Halloween stockings booklet comes out.

Well, hopefully I'll get my 2 exchanges sent this week. Stitching has been completed, just need to assemble. I have the material already picked, so I'm happy about that part. Don't you just hate it when you can't find the perfect piece of fabric for your pinkeepe, pillow, etc.

Hope everyone has a great night!

You all brighten my dark hours!

Truthfully, I have read and reread your comments and they have eased my heart. Today was the viewing and I am glad that I managed to stay relatively calm. As a perfectionist I struggle especially over little things. I stress over stuff that probably doesn't matter to others, but I can't help myself. At every funeral that I have been too, we always send floral sprays, and yes they do tend to be a little more expensive, but I started out by giving the bigger sprays and I can't not give a smaller one for fear of why is Johnny and Donna's flowers small, they gave Lois such a beautiful arrangement. Well, I ordered a spray the same size as I always get, yet when we were at the funeral home today, I looked for mine, mine are normally big and easy to see. Friends, I was disappointed because when I finally found mine, it was very small and not what I had ordered. OK, to me that was a horrible slap to my already battered soul. Of course I got upset, I cried, I wanted to scream, plus they forgot the bird. I always add a bird, it's my way that I envision of sending love to my loved one by the wings of God's tiny angels.
Johnny tells me it's no big deal, but truthfully and emotionally it matters to me. I can't help that I want everything I do to have meaning. Even my flowers. Am I wrong for wanting that? It's not that my flowers are the biggest, because they are not, that is not the issue. If the florist cannot make what I have ordered, they run out of flowers, they have a phone number to call the client to let them know of change instead of finding out too late at the funeral home. My florist that I used to use was the best, I miss her dearly, she passed away and the family closed the business. So I used someone unknown. I will not use them again. Tomorrow I will walk around and pick the spray I like best and find out who they used.
What has happened to today's businesses? They have all lost the meaning of doing a good job, service, etc. It saddens me because I can't afford to have another floral spray made. I know Uncle Charles doesn't care, but I care about what Aunt Yvonne and Selena think. Help me Lord not to worry over things that shouldn't matter. Pray for me friends, because my heart is not a happy heart concerning the florist. (Plus Lord, help me to find a better florist!)
Whew! And I still have tomorrow to get thru. I pray Lord, that I don't have to do this again anytime soon. Thank you. Amen.
Now, I have to go iron everyone's dress shirts and pants, shine up shoes and dig out pantyhose.(I hate wearing pantyhose!)
Hugs my friends,
I'm sorry Lord that I'm picky! I'll try harder to do better.

A heavy heart........

Our Uncle Charles has lost his fight with cancer tonight at 6:38pm. I will say that he was a quiet man who when spoke could command an audience. He and Aunt Yvonne were married 50 or 51 years. This has been a year of many deaths in the family. Earlier this year, John's first cousin Jesse (which was Charles and Yvonne's son) died unexpectedly. Uncle Charles had only been in hospice less than a week. I will be spending my weekend preparing food and getting up every one's funeral wear. I tell you what friends, I'm tired of going to funerals. It's like pieces of my heart are slowly being torn away. Uncle Charles was a believer in Jesus and I know he is in heaven hugging his son Jesse and Jesus.
Friends, I do not do well during these hard times. I hate the funeral home visits and the wakes and then the finality of the funeral. When I love someone it is with my whole heart and being, and I struggle not to cry and sob. Friends, you all are my lifeline to help me with my distress and I thank you for all your prayers during another dark hour in our lives.
I had planned to have a happy post with pictures of band camp and I received my PS exchange, so please forgive me for not having pictures to post. It would be disrespectful to our Uncle Charles.
Tomorrow is one of my furlough days so I will be home. I'll post again tomorrow.
Praying for Aunt Yvonne,

I survived the first day of school!

Wahoo! Only 179 more to go! hahahahaha Nah, it was a very good day and we were on schedule! Norma Jean is our head cook and she makes sure that every child has at least 5 entrees to choose from. She makes it so easy. That's a tough job, I know I'd sink and the kids would go hungry if they depended on Donna May! I excel in cashiering and teaching nutrition classes to the students. The students come in every 3 minutes for 2 hours, our last class comes in at 12:54, then it's yahoo time for us. That's when we all turn on the burn and get that kitchen cleaned in 45 minutes. As I've said before, our team rocks and everyone today was all smiles! We love good days!

I hate that I can't show any pictures, both projects on hand right now are exchange prezzies! (I love that word, I picked it up from Cheryl in Scotland! Hi Cheryl!)

I'm gonna make it short tonight, I'm gonna get my Mountain Dew(ahhh heaven!) and try to stitch, if my kitties will let me. They have been deprived of no lovins or huggins! I shall try!

Hugs my friends!

ps: I couldn't resist this cute comic! hahahahaha

A few thoughtful comments............

As I read the comments from my last post, I had to comment myself, I got to choose what job I wanted, plus I took extra classes to be a cashier. Yes, there are lots of grumpy food assistants.(Yes, that is our title.) I've been at two schools so far and I wanted to be the cashier. Plus since I'm always smiling or have a happy heart, my manager wanted to have a cashier that would shine as she put it. All the cafes compete for best cafe in our cluster. We won last year, and it's because we(all of us in our cafe) try so hard to treat every child that comes thru our lunch lines like they were our kids. I am blessed because my group of ladies are there for the children. You have some that are just there for the hours, some for the summers off, and then you have the ones that are for the kids. I'm glad to say that at my school, we are there for the kids.
So Vonna, I'm sorry that at your school the lunch ladies are grumpy, that makes me sad for all those kids. I have very strong feelings that if you can't be happy at your job, then quit or put a smile on your face! These kids need someone who can be a shoulder to lean on or a friend to talk too when they are feeling down or lost. I do know that they want me to be a manger, but then I wouldn't be able to be on the front line to see my kids every day. So I'm staying put at my school. So there, that's my two cents worth.
Has everyone seen the new Blackbird Designs Halloween book? Take at look at there website and you can see it too. I have and I have one being reserved in my name! Thank you The Dogwood Patch. That's where I have ordered mine from. I'm very excited because Terri is moving her cross stitch shop near me!!!! Jan.4th, 2010 she will be opening her new shop called The Stitch Store near the Mall of Georgia, I'm so ready, I'm hording money so I can spend it there!
Well, it's Sunday and I'm just resting today, tomorrow is the first day of school! I sure hope my back can take it! It's being ornery today, so heating pad here I come!!!!

ps:No news on Alora, but she's still in the hospital, our baby is still having poop issues. She has to be able to poop on her own to be able to head home.

Welcome back students!

These past two days have required me to be at my school for staff meetings and such. I do love my job and even though I am just a cashier in the cafeteria, all my kids(over 800) need hugs and smiles. My veteran kids, which are 1st thru 5th, came bounding into the cafe demanding hugs and having to tell me everything that they did over summer. Of course Miss Donna had stickers to give out. Then I have the new kindergarten students who hide behind Mom or Dad and peek around to listen. I've already claimed a new little bunny, her name is Aiya, such a pretty little girl, and she loves the fact that she will get to eat in the cafe. ( Bless her heart, in a few years, it will become boring for her, but for now, I'll take what I get.)

I had to promise the principal that I would save stuffed fuzzies for the last day of school! In hindsight now, I can see all the little fuzzies being tossed back and forth in the classroom, hall, etc. (hehehehehe) Last year I made 750 of these little guys. In the picture is all I have left after last year.

I really need to go stitch, I'm kinda behind on that. So friends, that's it for today!

See ya!

Lazy Tuesday..........

quick prayer for CindyMae, her husband has had a heart attack, Lord hear your child call for you. Send healing to CindyMae's hubby that he gets better soon! Thank you Lord. Amen.

My last day off for the summer. Sigh. Tomorrow, back to the grind. Our school mascot has changed, they are changing the way the cluster schools are put together. We have always been the Harbins Hawks, but since they built a new high school down the road, we have to follow whatever the high school mascot is. So, drumroll...............we are now the Harbins Tigers! I have 2 bulletin boards that I have to decorate tomorrow. With the new Tiger. So I've been racking my brain to come up with a cute catch phrase to put on the board. Plus it has to lead into the Food Pyramid. I'm the Nutrition Education Leader for my school. I get to go into the classrooms to teach about nutrition and eating and so forth. So think of me while I go back to school.
We have 3 furlough days that we must take, plus 7 more after Christmas break. I pray that our economy hurries up and gets back on track. I know schools all over the USA are under budget cuts, I hope I'll be one of the lucky ones that do not get laid off. No one is hiring. My older son Jason has had no luck in getting a job. He has gotten afew days work thru his friend Max, but it's not been worthwhile. They are only paying him $5 per hr. Plus I know he's working like a dog. When he comes home, he's wiped out. Construction labor is hard work.
I finally have a sneak peek on a project I'm doing right now, this will probably be the only picture, because I'm not sure if she reads my blog or not.
John's off fishing, at least he is trying to keep optimistic about work, he is still on a temporary lay off. We are hoping that he'll get back to work soon.
Hoping everyone has a good day!
Thankful for friends who care!
