I'm Back!!!!

Let me start off by saying, I'm so glad to be home! I've never worked so hard in my life. The drive wasn't too bad, finding our campus dorm hall was insane! Do don't let a teen try to say, oh I think we need to turn this way! We ended up circling our dorm hall three times. Once we got there and got unloaded, I had to turn into a nurse right away. I am the band's nurse, 70 little mini adults who think they are dying! Nah, but I had a couple of whiners. My job was to sign everyone in, take their medicine from them and log them into my journal. The kids were not allowed to keep their meds with them, unless it was a inhaler or epi pen. I would start my day at 5:45am, medicine rounds started at 6:15am, I had 6 kids in the morning, 2 at lunch, 5 at dinner that needed daily meds. I had to go where ever the kids went. I carried my first aid backpack with all the meds, plus I toted a portable first aid kit. That back pack was heavy.

I had kids dropping like flies, sorry for the pun, it was so hot and humid, mostly the girls would be sick with the heat. And the chafing, I had one young lady get chafed so bad, it was bleeding. She didn't tell me on the first day because she was embarrassed. After fussing to her that I've seen it all, don't worry, I had to patch her up. Poor dear was warned not to move or face my wrath. I had to find a store to get stuff to fix her thigh area.

I thought I would have free time, yeah right. I spent so much time going from kid to kid. I finally got a golf cart on Saturday for me to use. Thank goodness! All in all, I think everyone had a great time! Only thing, I didn't think to get any pictures of me in doing my duties! Too bad.

We had room checks at 11:30 pm, then I could get some rest!

Glad to be home! Daisy sure has stayed near my side today! Poor little girl probably didn't get loved on enough from my husband. He tolerates my kitties.

Last but not least-did I finish my roof? Unfortunately no, I've got to finish it. i don't have much left, so I feel I'll finish tomorrow!

Leaving for Band Camp Today!

I'm leaving for camp around 1pm today. I'm taking down a couple of young'ns with me. Wish me success in the drive, I hate driving in unfamiliar places. Of course my rr will be traveling with me, I only have to stitch the roof/half of it is stitched. I'm gonna work on it in my free time. Wahoo! We get 2 hours of free time per day! I can't contain myself! haha Nah, these kids are normally good.
Wishing everyone a joyful weekend! I'm happy to say I got Vonna for my newest Fair $ Square partner! OMGosh! What should I stitch for Vonna! It's gotta be something great!
I'll try to check my blog, I don't have a laptop, so I'll be at the mercy of borrowing a teens laptop! If not, I'll see everyone on Monday!

(as my husband says-just shot her now, she doesn't know how to say NO!) I love you honey! You know I just gotta be involved!

Almost completed!

I'm trying to hurry and finish before camp, if not, I'll take it with me. We will have free time during the afternoon and evening time. But, I'd love to be finished. I'm very happy with how it is looking. Don't you?

I'm so glad that Cheryl received my PIF in the mail! She is my first PIF. I must say that I enjoy sending little goodies. Now I need to decide what to stitch for Brenda, Marie and I swear, my mind is going! I know I had one more sign up, but I can't remember who did. So if you signed up for my PIF, please email me back again!

I'm getting excited about round 2 with Fair & Square! Who will I get? I hope we get our names before Thursday. I'm not sure I'll have access to a computer. I do not own a laptop, much to the sorrow of my boys. We have 2 computers right now, I'm hoping to get one more so that I can have one in my bedroom. I'm wanting to remove the computers from the family room. I want to have a built in bookcase installed. I want a family library for our home.

Well, I hope to finish the snow on my RR so I can start the roof tomorrow.

Have a great night everyone!

Quick post!

Yesterday was very busy and sad. Our dear friend Miss Mae passed away. She was 89 years old. Feisty was her motto! Do you know what she was doing on Saturday night? She was out dancing at a pub/bar here in GA! I love it! She loved to dance. The family told us she died peacefully, so glad for that. My mom will miss her. It was hard for my mom. We have had two deaths in the last month, they say it comes in threes.
Didn't get a lot done on my RR yesterday, so no update pictures. Gotta play catch up today.
Band meeting last night, these kids are very excited about camp. I personally am not. I promised to go and help out at camp this year, but John is not thrilled at all. He's wanting me to change my mine, can't though, we are already short one person who was gonna help out. Jacob seems to caught in a tug of war between two groups who wanted him to bunk with them. I ended up picking for him to make it easier. I was in charge of the room assignments. I'm glad he's popular, but sometimes I think it goes to his head!
Well, that's all for now, gonna do laundry and stitch!

Doggy Update and RR

Yesterday my doggy Brutus was sick, he had numerous seizures, I hate it when they happen. There is not alot that I can do, other than keep him warm and safe. He was hit by a Bellsouth van 10 years ago, and he had brain damage due to the accident. Since Brutus was sick yesterday, I didn't get as much done on my house as I wanted. I'll post what I do have completed. Almost all the windows are in now, the roof will be a bear though, lots of color changes, but it will look great when it's finished.

Brutus is feeling better today, no seizures yet. He has layed around on the couch most of the day. I feel tired myself, I slept in today until 11:30am, it was almost noon when I rolled out of my bed.

Vonna, so glad you liked your birthday present. I hope you liked the Just Nan whimzie kit I gave you. I've just about gave up on getting scuppernog from the cross stitch shop here in town, I may have to order it from Mary Kathryn's if I want to finish my ornament.

Tomorrow is a busy day, a family friend passed away, so off to the funeral home we go, plus a band meeting tomorrow night to prepare for band camp next week. So if I don't get to post tomorrow, ya'll will know why. Have a great evening everyone!

Stitching Like Crazy!

I'm planning another stitching day for Tuesday and Wednesday. I did get a lot done on the round robin. I'm pleased with the result. I'm trying so very hard to keep the back tidy, as there are many color changes.

Both boys had company over on Monday. Jacob's friend Abby came to visit. I know that made Jacob's day, give 2 teenagers a camera and this is what you get! hahaha. I just had to post these pictures of them having fun yesterday.

Jason's friend Brenda visited here for the first time, I'm thinking it won't be her last time. Jason seems to like her. But, then again, what girl doesn't he like?

Still waiting on scuppernog so I can finish my ornament, I'll probably start the next one while I wait on that color to come in. I can't wait to get the JCS Ornament magazine. I have one reserved for me at the Needlework House. Has anyone else started listening to Christmas music? I do every July, I'll start listening, it helps put me in the Christmas Spirit! I know everyone could use a little of that!

Off to cross stitch! Plus I'll watch The Lord of The Rings, The Dark Tower today while I stitch!

RR update!

My rr is coming along nicely, I'm starting the house today. I need to have my square finished by the 26th. We leave for camp, I'll be gone for 4 days, and I know there will not be a lot of time for stitching. I may take my knitting, unsure of the camp schedule yet, will get that info this week.

To Anna and Cheryl, I mailed you both something on Saturday morning, so hopefully within 10 days you will get a package from me! Vonna, a couple of days for you, I just love sending goodies!

Here's the baby blanket attempt, I've got 45 stitches packed tightly on the knitting needles. I hope it turns out. I have only made scarfs before. So, we will see how this turns out. Wish me knitting luck!

Check out the rr blog to learn more about a surprise email I received!

Until later,

Update on Round Robin and unexpected news!

I worked till midnight last night on my rr. I almost finished the bridge. Hope to finish at least bridge and tree tonight. I had to have a new Q Snap in a bigger size, I love them! So easy to use and no marks on the linen. I chose the 11" square size. I have a 6" size for smaller things also.

Now, for the unexpected news, most of you recall me posting about Jason's friend Angelyn, I made her a graduation piece, well I really like this young lady, very sweet, well she is pregnant. Bless her heart, she worried that I would think poorly of her. Well, Angelyn, I know this is not what you planned, life happens and I told her I would help her out if I could. She has decided to keep the baby, thank you Lord! Jason feels the need to protect her, I told him that her boyfriend should protect her and we hope he will be a active part in the baby's life. Her parents of course are standing behind their daughter. They were understanding and so far, every thing is ok.

Needless to say, I had to start knitting a baby blanket, I knit very slowly, so I figured I'll have the baby blanket done by February.

I would love to knit some booties, but I'm a beginning knitter so not sure about those just yet. The yarn is so soft, it lured me over to the yarn table today at Hobby Lobby!

I hope everyone has a great weekend.

Look What I Got Today!

My birthday order from Anna came today! I got that book! It is great. I want to do a bunch of those designs! Thank you to Mary Kathryn for sending them out to me. I love the Sweet Berries, I'm gonna have to start that one soon. I have so many projects going right now! But, you know what, I love it! It helps keep me from being bored!

April and the kids loved the lasagna(well, Jackson, he's 4, he rather have fruit loops!) I made a big pan, so that they could have it for dinner also if they choose to.

I'm working on my round robin, hope to have more finished tonight so I can post a picture.

I want to thank Brenda for doing my PIF also! I plan to start reviewing what I should do for yall tomorrow.

I took this picture of our black eyed susan plant that we have growing in our front walkway. Daisy and Brutus look so pitiful looking out the door.

Have a wonderful night everyone!

My gridding is done! My SIL and her kids!

I have completed my gridding! I am so happy that is finished, I stitched my name and the bear at the dentist's office today. I'm happy how it's turning out.

Yesterday I visited April and her two kids. My niece and nephew, Elizabeth and Jackson. April has MS and is not doing as well as I would hope. I feel guilty being able to walk when she struggles to stand. I am making homemade lasagna to take over to her on Thursday. We had MacDonalds on Tuesday and I told Elizabeth I'd either buy lunch or make something yummy. So I'm gonna make lasagna and sweet tea with cheese bread for us to enjoy.

Concerning my PIF right now I have 3! I think that's great. For those who worried about me, thank you, I seem to be having blond moments more and more! hahaha I really do have light brown/blond hair. So I can make fun of myself!

Anna, I hope your hand is doing better, Julie, I can't wait to see what you create for me! Marie can you email me your address? I'll need it to send your PIF! Cheryl I'm sending you something in the mail! I plan to mail it on Friday.

I'm blessed today, my teeth turned out really nice. (A little secret-I have dentures) My teeth have always been bad, so I decided to get dentures last year. I finally got my permanent set today!

Stitching is planned for tonight!

PIF Invitation!

About 3 1/2 months back I announced a PIF, well I only had one taker, and since I was one of the lucky people to get in Mary Kathryn's PIF, I'm gonna announce it again. I was fairly new to blogging back then, so I didn't get many takers.

Most of you know the drill, the first 5 who blog me back will receive a stitched lovey by me within 365 days! The only catch, is you need to do the same on your blog! I have met many wonderful new friends this way. By the way, gridding was not the only thing I worked on this past weekend! I finished my first ever PIF to send out in the mail! What do you think! I'm kinda pleased with the end result. I won't say who gets it because I'm hoping she forgot about signing up, hope it's a surprise!

It's really early, so I think I'm gonna sneak back to bed! I love summer!

New look for my blog!

What do you think? I somehow messed up my old template fooling around, but I like the pink color! I would love to put my fairies on my blog! I have been working off and on all day with my gridding. My eyes would start to cross then I'd have to take a break! It's hard to believe the weekend is almost over.

We grilled out shrimp kabobs, it was very tasty and delicious!

Tomorrow is a stitching day for me! I plan to work on my gridding again tomorrow!

Until tomorrow,

Family pics!

Told ya'll I'd post again, Rebekah visited us again today, my nephew Tim challenged my husband that he couldn't do a pull up. See, Tim can't do one, so he's like, if I can't no one can. John says, hey no problem- hence the challenge. John of course can whip his butt any ole day!

My hubby showed him! haha Tim!

Gridding is coming along slowly. Hope to finish by Sunday evening. Cross my fingers that I get it done.

We are gonna grill shrimp kabobs tomorrow! Yummy!

Have a great night everyone!

Stitching Updates!

I can't believe how time flies! Just think everyone, Christmas is just around the corner! My linen has came in, and I have already started to grid it. I really like the color. When I picked it up, I sort of panicked. It was really yellow! But, then I mulled it over and decided that it would look fine once stitching was on it. It has a mottled tan on it also.

My floss colors for Liberty have not come in yet, so that is on the back burner.

My SB ornie is looking great. Still waiting on scuppernog from the cross stitch shop.

I started gridding my linen last night. Good grief! I hate gridding, so I decided to just cross stitch everyone's outline block.

Jason's friend Rebecca has been visiting with us for the past 2 days. Nice girl. She comes over around lunch then stays till evening. I should have gotten a picture.

Planning on stitching as much as possible today. I need to be ahead of the game before camp.

I will post more later.

Water Fun Had by All!

We went to the Mall of GA. They have this cool water fountain that the kids can play in. The girls love that place. I do too, it's free, there's a bathroom for families inside the food court that you can use, MacDonald's(every kids dream!) plus other eatery places to choose from. I took both my boys and the girls. no pictures of Jason, he's too cool to hang out with little kids. He disappeared in the mall after we ate. Jacob did hang out with the girls. They love him so. I know he likes it!

My sister gave me more cross stitch goodies for my birthday today. I made both girls a little smock dress to wear over their swim suits. I can't believe I forgot to take a picture! Oh well.

SB ornament doing good, hoping to finish it tonight.

We are gonna cookout tomorrow, my mom and dad and brother are coming tomorrow! Can't wait!

Till later!

Quick update on Flags!

I SAID NO!!! We had a meeting last night and I explained to the booster prez (I'm the vice prez)that as I said before in May, if we are gonna make flags, we need to start them now! Not July, plus you should see the flag the band director wants made, they are 45" tall by 38" wide, a funky curved teardrop comma shape! Yea right! Curves! I told them that as of July 1o, I was not gonna be available to sew. I will be taking care of John's sister for 10 days(she has MS and can't walk really anymore), then after that we leave for band camp, then Aug.1 I head back to school to work, by then I will need to start the alterations on the band uniforms again!
I'm sorry that the band director can't make decisions, but that is not my problem. I did get a email this morning, he apparently still wants to make the flags, he wants to find other moms who sew to make them. He wants me to make a pattern, NOT, I emailed them back and told them to at least buy one flag and trace around that flag to get the pattern shape. Plus, good luck finding people to sew, they sure weren't there last year to help me with all sewing on the uniforms!
The flags are only gonna cost $782 dollars, come on DHS, we erased over $6000 in debt from kids who wouldn't pay their band fees from last year. I hate to be hard nosed about this, but please!
The girls are here again, today is their last day with me, we are gonna go to the water fountain at the mall. I'll post pictures tonight. I'm almost finished with my SB ornament! Hope to have that done this evening!
Sorry so long, I just need to vent, and if I vent at my hubby, then he'll make matters worse, because he doesn't mind telling the band director off. I don't want the bd to make life tough for Jacob. We do want a music scholarship.

Where have I been?

Life certainly doesn’t stop, does it?  I have missed my blog, yet I wasn’t such a great steward of it these past long years. I was sucked ...
